제목 Winter program at DILa: Your support needed
Dear Jongmyung ,
Greetings from Vancouver! Hope that this email finds you well.
I am now writing to seek your support for our annual winter program on Buddhism and East Asian cultures, this year to be held at DILA (Dharma Drum Liberty Art) in Taiwan from January 7-16, 2019:
http://frogbear.org/training/winter-program/
As you may have known, the winter program is a twin of our increasingly successful and popular summer program on the same subject, which has now been run for a whole decade (since 2008) thanks to the support from different parts of the world. The winter program was initiated in 2014, at Mount Emei 峨眉山, China, and was relaunched two years ago (2018) at DILA after a one-year suspension due to some technical reasons. The relaunched winter program turned out to a great success that attracted 120 participants from all over the world:

Encouraged by the program’s success, our DILA colleagues have invited us to ground the program at DILA in the coming years. This year, we have invited 3 scholars (Jinhua Chen of UBC, Sarah Fraser of Heidelberg and Masahiro Shimoda of Todai) to give three separate series of lectures, which are supplemented by another series of lectures to be jointly delivered by several scholars based in mainland China and Taiwan. Additionally, the program supports one Student Forum, occasional field visits, and an international conference (http://frogbear.org/call-for-papers-buddhism-and-east-asian-cultures-winter-lecture-series-the-4th-modern-chinese-buddhism-forum/).
Despite our program’s success in attracting young scholars, we still feel the keen need of expanding the pool of overseas candidates. It is exactly on this aspect of our program that I am now seeking your assistance. I would be very grateful if you may kindly help us promote our winter program by forwarding the program information to your students and any young scholars of Buddhism and East Asian religions who you think may benefit from, and contribute to, our program.
Many thanks!
Yours,
Jinhua
